Both the Semillistas and Dronecoria companies are carrying out research into the reduction of restoration costs. Laboratory techniques for the germination of seeds with only a single rainfall are combined with the use of drones adapted for sowing, in order to cover large areas of land in less time. These techniques have been used since 2020 in Sierra Lújar, Granada, where there are areas of marked previous and recent environmental degradation. The aim is to restore more than 4,000 hectares with trees, mainly of the genus Quercus and others indigenous to the area, as well as shrubs and herbaceous plants. Presently, Semillistas and Dronecoria are working on extending their programme to other parts of the peninsula. This open access research is available for use worldwide.
