The project, developed by Gesforma S.L., consists of the reforestation of 29 ha in the town of Támara de Campos, located in the province of Palencia, in the region of Tierra de Campos. The main objective is the restoration of degraded land with developing erosive processes that are causing significant soil loss. Wood and pine nuts are considered as a secondary use, highly conditioned to the climatic and socio-economic conditions of the area. This is a rural area with a high ethnographic value that suffers from depopulation, with an economy based on agriculture and rural tourism, especially wine production and wine tourism. The expected absorptions for a period of 35 years are 3,001 t CO2 eq, with 505 t CO2 eq available, of which 30 t CO2 eq have been withdrawn. The plots have a Management Plan with a time horizon of 35 years, in which the replanting, thinning and pruning works have been foreseen. The plots, the overflight and the absorptions are owned by the company GESFORMA, which is also in charge of their management through its own means. There are two intermixed plots, with different planting models defined according to the characteristics of the terrain, with extreme temperatures, summer aridity and very chalky soils with gypsum outcrops, variable exposures, shallow soil, appreciable erosive processes, presence of rabbits and some sheep. Plot "a", with 23.30 ha, has steep slopes and variable exposures. A conifer plantation has been carried out, with a density of 1,100 ft/ha (52% Pinus pinea, 40% Juniperus thurifera and 8% Juniperus oxycedrus) with a regular 3x3 frame, installing the plant in a foot to foot mix. Preparation of the land with back spading, with no need for prior clearing, manual planting. Installation of 0.60 m tubex protectors, giving priority to the pine seedling, to avoid rabbit damage. Plot "b" with 5.80 ha has a less pronounced slope and variable exposure. A conifer plantation was planted at a density of 800 ft/ha (70% Pinus pinea, 25% Juniperus thurifera and 5% Juniperus oxycedrus) with an irregular 3x4 frame, installing the plant in a foot to foot mix. Preparation of the soil by double subsoiling, with no need for prior clearing, manual planting. Installation of tubex protectors of 0.60 m. in some feet to avoid rabbit damage. The plant complies with all the quality and origin requirements established by the JCyL for this type of restoration.
