ARBA Huelva

The Asociación para la Recuperación del Bosque Autóctono de Huelva (ARBA) is working to improve forest cover within an agricultural estate. Most of the land is planted with strawberries and berries under plastic sheeting. The work carried out corresponds to the reforestation of the boundaries of agricultural production, as well as streams, slopes and other forested areas. In addition, 200 ha of existing forest have been set aside for conservation. The repopulation uses species native to the area: cork oaks, holm oaks, carob trees, bank broom and aromatic plants. Riverside species are used on the banks of the streams. Some endangered species have been included, such as the white thyme. Along with this project, the association carries out reforestation activities throughout the province of Huelva, supported by volunteer campaigns.
