ARBA Hoyo de Manzanares

The Asociación para la Recuperación del Bosque Autóctono (ARBA) of Hoyo de Manzanares, has managed to initiate a restoration project on a mountain owned by Vías Pecuarias in the municipality of Hoyo de Manzanares. The project started with the planting of 15 individuals in November 2020. The project is expected to expand to 20 hectares, with the permission of the owner, the support of the town council and the efforts of the members of the organisation. The land has some slope, but deep soil and a rainfall of around 700mm/year. A limiting factor is the cost of the guards, which have to be made of metal, because of the wildlife. This makes each plant more expensive and costs more to put in place.
