CO2 absorption in Torremocha del Jarama

A set of absorption projects promoted by Eurofred, Ferrovial and Grupo Sulvestris aimed at offsetting corporate emissions. The project is executed by Grupo Sylvestris, which has been developing absorption projects for years both on its own behalf and for other entities seeking to offset their CO2 emissions. The project involves the restoration of 43 ha of publicly owned woodland, located in the municipality of Torremocha del Jarama. The restoration is based on autochthonous species suited to the environment of the area. The composition of the species was designed to be resilient and to offer multiple services such as fruit, firewood, browsing, etc. Quercus ilex, Quercus faginea, Pinus pinea, Salix alba, Alnus glutinosa, Populus alba, Populus nigra, Populus x canadensis, Prunus dulcis, Crataegus monogyna, Acer monspessulanum, Pyrus bourgeana, Pistacia terebinthus, Arbutus unedo, Amelanchier ovalis Juniperus thurifera and Pinus halepensis have been planted. Individual guards were installed, a final density of 500 ft/ha is expected to be reached.
